The Test d’Évaluation du Français (TEF Canada) and the Test de Français adapté au Québec (TEFaQ) are available at ILSC Toronto at 443 University Ave, Toronto, ON M5G 2H6.

TEF and TEFaQ are officially recognized assessments of French language proficiency for immigration to Canada or Québec, and accepted by some universities and professional organizations. The Tests evaluate your oral and written comprehension and expression in French. Each segment of the test may be taken individually.*

Please note that ILSC Toronto offers the computer-delivered TEF Exams and speaking is done with an in-person examiner.

*Our test centres do not offer immigration advice, nor advise on which parts of the test you should take, please review requirements with the CCIP, MICC or IRCC as appropriate.

TEF Canada has 4 parts:

  • Oral Comprehension (40 minutes, 40 questions)
  • Oral Expression (15 minutes, 2 topics)
  • Written Comprehension (60 minutes, 40 questions)
  • Written Expression (60 minutes, 2 topics)
